Michael A. de Miranda, College of Education & Human Development Dean
For over 55 years, the College of Education and Human Development has advanced
a mission rooted in curiosity and persistence. Our faculty, staff and students
work each day to enhance the success of communities and industries across Texas
and beyond through research, practice and outreach that address the pressing
challenges of our time.
Elevate reflects that commitment and is the new name of our annual magazine.
In this issue, you will see how our researchers are giving hope to patients
with Parkinson’s disease, strengthening special education, enhancing literacy
for learners of all ages and shaping the role of AI in classrooms and the workplace.
These accomplishments require more than expertise; they require the persistence
to seek answers, the courage to adapt when needed and the dedication to work
alongside school, community, state and industry partners. As Abraham Lincoln
once noted, “If we never try, we will never succeed.” Our College lives this
truth daily.
We also proudly prepare the next generation of difference makers, whose resilience,
leadership and curiosity will shape stronger and healthier communities. I am honored
to share these stories with you as we continue to shine as a Force for Good.
